Material

ASA — Acrylonitrile styrene acrylate

ABS that does not yellow. For anything that lives outdoors, there is no argument.

Use it for

  • Outdoor signage, terrace furniture, garden accessories
  • Marine use: it takes salt and UV
  • Exposed automotive parts, shutter end caps, blind clips

What it will not do

  • Limited colour range
  • Same heated-chamber requirement as ABS
  • A few euros more per kilo

What we have learned using it

When a plastic part has broken after years outdoors, it is almost always UV. Remaking it in PLA guarantees it will fail faster than the original; in ASA, it will outlast it.

Consider instead

  • PETG — if the part stays indoors
  • ABS — indoors only

Names are the manufacturer's own and serve as the ordering reference. The colour runs through the material, it is not painted on — swatches are indicative, a physical sample prevails.

Values measured by the filament manufacturer on standardised specimens. A printed part will differ with orientation, infill and settings: we validate on a test part on request.

Technical data sheet (TDS) from the filament manufacturer, Bambu Lab, in English, as published on its store on 6 September 2026: mechanical and thermal properties measured on specimens, drying and printing conditions. It is the document to attach to a technical file; we also send it with the order on request.
