Frequently asked questions

Working with SANSIL 3D

Lead times, discounts, tolerances, confidentiality, shipping. If your question is not here, ask it directly — we answer within 24 working hours.

Business

What is the real lead time between my order and delivery?

The quotation goes out within 24 working hours. After that, allow 2 to 3 working days for a prototype, 5 to 8 days for a run of 50 to 250 pieces, and a negotiated schedule beyond that. The lead time stated on the quotation is firm: it accounts for the workshop's actual load at the time we write it.

How do the volume discounts work?

The unit price falls in bands: −6 % from 10 pieces, −12 % at 50, −18 % at 100, −22 % at 250, −30 % from 1,000. These apply to the unit price, and the quotation always shows the calculation. Preparation (€7.90) is charged once per order, not per piece.

Can I approve a sample before a production run starts?

It is mandatory above 50 pieces, and offered as standard below that. You receive one part, you fit it, you check the actual clearances. Production only starts once you have approved it in writing.

Do my files stay confidential?

Your files are used to assess your request and fulfil your order, not published or reused for another customer. Following your explicit action and agreement to the transfer, they may be sent to technical providers required to store and process the request, including Google Drive or the workshop’s configured object storage. A confidentiality agreement may be requested before sending.

Do you offer white-label production?

Yes. Unbranded packaging, labelled with your own references, shipped straight to your end customer. Nothing carries our name, neither on the parcel nor on the paperwork.

What are the payment terms?

The first order is payable upfront unless agreed otherwise in writing. Subsequent business orders may have written payment terms within French statutory limits: at most 60 days from the invoice date, or 45 days end of month where expressly agreed and not unfair. Public-sector payment terms are specified in the quotation.

Which file formats do you accept?

STL, OBJ and 3MF for direct printing. STEP where design work is needed. A dimensioned 2D drawing, a photograph with a ruler in shot, or the original part will also do — we do the modelling.

What tolerances can you hold?

±0.3 mm as standard, ±0.15 mm on request and on identified dimensions. Beyond that the part needs machining, which we do not offer. Tight tolerances are agreed dimension by dimension, not across the whole part.

Do you have certified materials?

PC-FR is UL94 V-0 rated and the manufacturer's datasheet ships with the order. For every material, the manufacturer's datasheet (PDF) can be downloaded from the material page, and is attached to the order on request. We do not issue part certification: that is not our trade.

Do you ship across Europe?

Yes. Tracking is emailed when the parcel leaves, and there are no customs formalities inside the European Union. SANSIL 3D operates under the French small-business VAT exemption (article 293 B of the French tax code): no VAT is charged, in France or in the EU. The quoted price is the price you pay — nothing to add, and nothing to reclaim on your side.

Who owns the CAD files you create?

The design quotation specifies delivered files, formats and agreed use or assignment rights. Tell us before approval if you need STEP, native files or manufacture by another supplier.

What happens if a part is not to specification?

Please report a defect promptly to support@sansil3d.fr with the order reference and, if possible, photographs. Reporting within 14 days helps processing but does not limit statutory rights or their time limits. Consumers benefit from the French statutory conformity guarantee for two years from delivery, subject to the legal conditions.

Are you insured?

Yes. SANSIL 3D is covered by a MAIF professional insurance policy: public liability and professional liability after delivery. A current certificate of insurance is provided on request, together with the quotation if you wish.

Can you mark the parts: logo, reference, pictograms?

Yes, with UV printing directly onto the 3D-printed part (or onto your own parts with a flat face): logo in colour, reference, batch number, instructions, front panel. The file replaces the printing plate: the marking can change from one piece to the next at no extra cost. The cost of the marking is added to that of the part, with volume pricing from 10 pieces.

Individuals

How much does it cost?

Calculator results are estimates. File transfer requires an explicit action and your agreement. The workshop checks feasibility, files, options and the total price before issuing an approved quotation. Payment is offered only after this review and your acceptance of the quotation and terms.

How long until I receive my part?

Allow 5 working days for production, plus shipping. The quotation goes out within 24 working hours, and nothing starts before you agree to it.

Which material should I pick if I know nothing about them?

Tell us what the object is for and where it will live. Indoors and unstressed: PLA. Daily use, something handled often: PETG. Outdoors, in the sun: ASA. Flexible: TPU. We choose it with you, and that is included.

How do I send you a file?

Use the quotation form to describe the need and select your file. The file is not transferred before your explicit action and agreement. If its format or size is rejected, contact support@sansil3d.fr to arrange another transfer method.

What if I have no 3D file?

That is the commonest case, and it is not a problem. A photograph of the object next to a ruler, with the main dimensions, is enough most of the time. For a simple part, the modelling is included in the price.

Can you repair a broken object?

We do not repair: we remake the broken part identically, or reinforce it where it gave way. Send the part, even in pieces — the geometry is rebuilt from the fracture faces.

Which colours are available?

Black, white, grey, blue, red, green, yellow, orange and natural, depending on the material. The colour is in the material, not painted on the surface: it cannot chip.

Is it strong?

A PETG part at 20% infill copes very well with daily domestic use. That said, a printed part breaks more easily along the layer lines, so we orient the print according to the load it will take.

Does it survive sunlight? A dishwasher?

Resistance to sunlight, heat and repeated washing depends on material, design and use. Specify exposure, temperature and any food contact so we can check technical data and suitability. Without specific approval, use gentle cleaning and avoid dishwashers.

Can I cancel my order?

Consumers generally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance purchase. The exception in Article L.221-28(3) of the French Consumer Code applies only to goods made to their specifications or clearly personalised. Made-to-order production alone does not exclude that right. Any applicable exception is stated before ordering and does not remove statutory guarantees.

How does delivery work?

Tracked parcel, shipped from Morsang-sur-Orge. The tracking number goes out by email. You can also collect the part from the workshop, by appointment.

What if the part is not right for me?

Please report a defect promptly to support@sansil3d.fr with the order reference and, if possible, photographs. Reporting within 14 days helps processing but does not limit statutory rights or their time limits. Consumers benefit from the French statutory conformity guarantee for two years from delivery, subject to the legal conditions.

Can I send you a file larger than email allows?

Your files are used to assess your request and fulfil your order, not published or reused for another customer. Following your explicit action and agreement to the transfer, they may be sent to technical providers required to store and process the request, including Google Drive or the workshop’s configured object storage. A confidentiality agreement may be requested before sending.

Can you print a logo or a photo on an object?

Yes: a logo, photo, name or texture on a suitable substrate. The project may use a flat face, a cylindrical object with the rotary module or a transfer suited to some shapes. Send dimensions and a photo; the workshop confirms substrate, printed area and finish before the final quotation.

Still unsure? Describe your part and we will tell you what is realistic.
